Overview

The capital is left behind while peaceful mountains appear in the Cordillera de Los Andes. Cajón del Maipo is and Andes canyon surrounded by mountain walls and outcrops that bring life to different ecosystems, all great for outdoor activities.

A staple destination for nature lovers! You’ll enter unforgivable landscapes with geological formations that have given life to valleys riddled with rivers and hills.

One of them, the Las Arenas Valley, is where you’ll find a cirque glacier worth witnessing: the Hanging Glacier of El Morado. Would you like to walk a path surrounded by volcanoes, hills and melting ice?

The route contemplates a first stretch of moderate physical exercise and, towards the end, the steep starts to be more demanding.

The mountainous nature impacts you with its wild flora of around 300 native and exotic species and sclerophyll Andes bushes, olivillo de la cordillera and hierva blanca, amongst many others.

These sights are the preview before arriving to the final destination; the Lagoon and Hanging Glacier El Morado, a natural monument with high geological value, whose panoramic sights can be witnessed in a full 360° view.

You’ll see the heart of the central Andes, and discover the endemic beauty of the glaciers that bring life to unique ecosystems in Chile.

In the Lagoon you’ll have time to rest and have lunch inside this natural amphitheater, after which you’ll retake your way back.

The trekking towards the Hanging Glacier El Morado has a duration of approximately 6 hours total (round trip). It is an outdoor adventure, an experience for fans of Andes nature.
